Theo Giesen
IN LOVING MEMORY · 1958 — 2026
A life defined by quiet strength, profound generosity, and an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship. Theo moved with a gentle hand and a generous heart, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Legacy Rooted in Kindness and Craft
Theo Giesen was a visionary, a farmer at heart, and a man who believed deeply in people, family, and sharing good food and wine around the table. Born in Germany and shaped by travel, hard work, and curiosity, Theo carried a lifelong love of the land, creativity, and connection.
Alongside his brothers Alex and Marcel, he co-founded Giesen Wines in New Zealand, helping build a company recognised around the world while never forgetting what it meant to start small.
Theo was an ideas man, endlessly entrepreneurial, generous with his time, and quietly principled, always looking out for the little guys. He loved travel, cooking, Marlborough, and working the land, and was happiest when bringing people together to share stories, laughter, and a good meal. He will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, humour, integrity, and boundless enthusiasm for life.
